Encryption "at Rest"
In cloudscale's cloud services, your data is stored in encrypted form.
cloudscale uses encryption on all data disks in our storage clusters. This means that all your volumes and objects are automatically encrypted "at rest".
As an additional layer of security, the encryption complements our other measures and protects your data from unauthorized parties, especially in the event that a physical storage device gets into the wrong hands.
It is in the nature of things that we still need to be in possession of the necessary keys in order to operate your servers and volumes as usual.
Of course, you are free to implement additional encryption on your own using your own key material – for example, using LUKS for volumes or SSE-C for objects.
